Match Outcome
The match outcome market is where you can wager on a certain outcome of a selected game. For limited overs matches there are usually two possible outcomes to bet on, that either side will win. In addition to this, most bookmakers will offer the possibility of a draw for Test matches. The match outcome is one of the most straightforward bets to make in cricket and is great for those just starting out.
Man of the Match
The man of the match betting market means being able to wager on which player will make the most outstanding contribution to the match. For example, this could be a bowler that’s taken multiple wickets or a batsman that’s performed better than expected. Bets will usually be settled when the broadcaster officially declares man of the match – more often than not this will be awarded to a player on the winning side.
Highest Opening Partnership Betting
With a highest opening partnership bet in T20 and ODI cricket, bettors can wager on which team will score the most runs before losing their first wicket. For Test matches, unless stated otherwise, only the first innings will count. This is another market that’s available in all forms of the game.
To Win the Toss
In betting ‘to win the toss’, a coin is tossed to determine which captain will choose the team to bat or field first. Here the bettor is aiming to predict which team will win the coin toss. There’s always a 50/50 chance of winning, so it’s a good pick for punters who want a bit of fun or that have less knowledge of the game.
Most Match Sixes
Most match sixes is one of the most popular wagers for cricket betting, where bettors have to correctly predict which team will score the most sixes in the match. It’s good to remember that this number will vary depending on the game format: Test matches involve a careful building of a score and defensive batting, while T20 or ODI matches are time restricted and feature batsmen playing more attacking shots.
Top Team Batsman
A bet placed on a top team batsman can apply to an innings, a match, or an entire series. The basics of this bet is to correctly wager on the batsman who scores the most runs. It’s important to consider the format of the match here, for example batting in T20 can be much more unpredictable than with ODI and Test matches.
Top Team Bowler
The top team bowler bet means betting on the bowler who takes the most wickets during the course of a match. Again, this type of bet can be made for an entire series, match, or even just individual innings. If there are two or more bowlers with the same number of wickets taken, then the winner will usually be the player with the least number of runs conceded.
Top Bowler & Top Batsman
In top bowler and top batsman bets, bettors can wager on who the leading run scorer or wicket taker will be in each innings. This is addition to the outcome of the match. Unlike the top team batsman and top team bowler bets, this market applies across both teams. You’ll be able to find it across Test matches, one day, and T20 cricket – there can often be T&C’s attached that are specific to each.
